Hanging Signs, Hiking & Fall Colors Highlight Three Days At The Cabin

This past weekend I headed to the Cabin in Southwest Virginia for some fall colors. I also got to do some hiking which was also a chance to get up more Posted signs. I got six up in total with three up on Buckner Ridge. On Saturday, I also came across two deer (one buck) and five turkeys. I didn't take Bax on Saturday and he didn't like that so I took him out Sunday with me.

We went up to Gillenwater Ridge to what I have named George's Meadow in honor of George Castle who recently passed away. He was an old friend of the family and will be missed. Then it was up to Russell and Robert Knobs. On both days I also marked where I am going to cut some permanent hiking trails. All in all, it was a good weekend.

Halloween 2018

Well, I did what I do most Halloween's these days. I hiked and then sat by the fire and finished by watching some horror movies. Anyway, here are some pictures of my Halloween decorations this year.

Camp Creek Bald Is The Spot For The 5th Annual Halloween Hike

Today is Halloween and what better way to jump-start this blog (again) than chronicling the 5th annual hike on this holiday.
The last three years I went to Margaretta Falls, but I changed it today and hiked the Camp Creek Bald area. I was going to do this last year but ran into ice and snow. However, not today as I hiked to the Camp Creek Bluffs and the summit. Then White Rock Cliffs, Big Firescald Knob and Blackstack Cliffs.

There were wonderful autumn colors on the mountain and the valley below. It was a beautiful day to be on the mountain.
