Back-up Snow Hike At Little Sawnee Mountain

Well,  I wanted to get out for a hike today, but I had to promise Deb I wouldn't go to the mountains. She worried about me hiking alone because of the 10 inches of snow in the high points of the North Georgia Mountains. So, I decided to do a training hike at Sawnee Mountain Perserve. When I got there to my surprise there was still plenty of snow on the mountain. There were spots of snow on the trail and where there wasn't any it was a bit sloppy. I did meet this guy today who was hiking bear foot, yes I said bear foot. Anyway, when I got to the Indian Seats the mountains had plenty of snow but the view was hazy, which was a surprise. Since I want to get miles in I hiked every trail in the park...just over 6.5 miles. Snow, lot of miles and not many other people,  Pete said that is a good day.

It Is A Snow Globe World - Part 2

Well, Snow Miser wasn't finished with us yet as that snow that I referenced on here Tuesday (Part 1) did come to pass. Yesterday afternoon and overnight we had between three-to-four inches of snow, while a good amount was not as much as forecast but was nice. Anyway, it was a mess last night and this morning, but it is getting better as a lot of the snow, here in Dawsonville, has melted. Since winter unofficially ends Sunday, I think soon we will be getting a visit from Heat Miser.

It starts Wednesday afternoon.

Started snowing hard.

Snow in a field...

...& a lone tree.

Snow &...

Roads are now covered.

It Is A Snow Globe World - Part 1?

Well, so much for me calling winter over a couple weeks ago, I guess I pissed off the Snow Miser because we awoke to a Tuesday morning snow. This was different than last week's winter event which was mainly ice. Today was probable the most snow we have seen this season, between one-to-two inches, and it did make for a snow globe world. While it was a nice snow the forecast for tomorrow is for a bigger one. So, that is why this maybe just part one.

The cars outside.

Snow in Dawsonville.

Snow on our creek.

My new hat & jacket.

Deb enjoys the day.

Snow!

The poor tree got hit with second punch.

Not time yet.

...not a good business decision.

First ice & now snow.

Looks like Christmas.
