The Snowy Mountains Were Calling, But I Couldn't Go!

Well, as I went to Greeneville late this afternoon I saw plenty of snow on the mountain...and I could hear it calling my name. However, as I am suffering from a head cold and I was going to therapy, no chasing snow today or tomorrow. Oh well, also I know the quality of photos is not normal Wood Booger standards, but I didn't have my camera...just the phone.

P.S. I fixed the title...

Well Deer Season Didn't Go As Planned

I know hunting can be a conservational subject, but it is deer season and I love venison so it was time to get out and go on the hunt. Don't worry, for those who might be squeamish it was good news, but for those who love venison, it was bad...I didn't bag a deer.
I did get out more than last year, but not as much as I would like (more about that later). I went two days before Thanksgiving. Went out Saturday morning and sat in two different deer stands. I think I might have spotted a tale but that is it on the deer front. I went to another deer stand on Sunday morning with the same luck...none!

Then this past Sunday I headed back to the Cabin and this past Sunday to do some more hunting. This time I went up the hollow near the Cabin. This time I sat under a tree overlooking the meadow, but again no luck. Because of the weather and starting to feel under it I had to cut my hunting trip short. Oh, there was one animal I saw a lot...squirrels. I heard them squawking, cutting nuts and running around where I sat.

Anyway, I am going to get the bow out and practice, because I haven't given up yet. Remember if hunting was easy it would be shopping.

I Think I am Going To Give This Blog Stuff Another Go...

Tales from the Wood Booger, since I started the blog back in March of 2013 it has been a labor of love.  However, in recent times it has been more labor than love.
So the blog is at a crossroads...I love doing it, but it does become overwhelming at times. Anyway, what to do? Well, since this is kind of the fifth anniversary of starting the blog in earnest I plan on scaling back longer blogs. I will do them, but a lot of them will fall into the Back in the Day category. What I will try to do is shorter ones with a couple of pictures and more photo blogs (they're just easier). I will also try to do some on the spot ones blogs that I might add a photo too later. On my seasonal blogs, I  am going to cut back the categories while adding some of my favorite spots I went too. I'm going to start reposting links on Facebook and Twitter, so people know when there are new ones.
I know I enjoy doing the blog and I hope that I can get back to more love and less labor when it comes to doing it.

Hanging Signs, Hiking & Fall Colors Highlight Three Days At The Cabin

This past weekend I headed to the Cabin in Southwest Virginia for some fall colors. I also got to do some hiking which was also a chance to get up more Posted signs. I got six up in total with three up on Buckner Ridge. On Saturday, I also came across two deer (one buck) and five turkeys. I didn't take Bax on Saturday and he didn't like that so I took him out Sunday with me.

We went up to Gillenwater Ridge to what I have named George's Meadow in honor of George Castle who recently passed away. He was an old friend of the family and will be missed. Then it was up to Russell and Robert Knobs. On both days I also marked where I am going to cut some permanent hiking trails. All in all, it was a good weekend.

Halloween 2018

Well, I did what I do most Halloween's these days. I hiked and then sat by the fire and finished by watching some horror movies. Anyway, here are some pictures of my Halloween decorations this year.
