2015 Fall Outdoor Series

Well. my favorite season for hiking, autumn, has coming and gone, but I will say it was a memorable 2015 Fall Outdoor Series. Like HikeSummer ’15 there was a lot of quality, from the coast of North Carolina all the way to Illinois. I also had plenty of time in the Appalachian Mountains with a couple of trips to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, including Mount Cammerer. I also hiked off the Blue Ridge Parkway and made visits to the Appalachian Trail and the Mountains to Sea Trail. Oh, I had plenty of hikes in Virginia, highlighted by a trip to the Great Channels. In addition, there was plenty of cascading water to go with the autumn leaves. Finally, I have added a new category; Cliffs & Outcrops. Overall, it was one of the best seasons…ever.

Some Good Asian Stir-Fried

Tuesday, we ventured to downtown Kingsport for my first visit to Stir Fry Café. I had heard of this place from friends on Facebook, but this was my first chance to visit it. Deb and I went with Terry and my Dad met some friends of theirs. We started with some crab dip, which was pretty good before ordering the main course. I thought about sashimi, but I couldn’t choose between the tuna and octopus and I need sake when eating sashimi, so I ordered the Mongolian Beef, which is stir-fried with onions green peppers, Szechuan peppers, chili peppers and white pepper mixed with an oyster soy sauce.  I had it with brown rice and it was very good. It came with a good Wonton soup, like I said good, but not the best I have had. I will say I will go back, because I need to try the sashimi.

Movember Is Over But Not The Beard Blog

It is the start of December and with it Movember has come and gone, but not my beard. In honor of the start of the winter season (unofficially) it is time for another Beard Blog. Let me get the stats out of the way first. I have had the beard for 66 weeks and 457 days. With that out of the way I have to say that the last couple of weeks I have thought about shaving my beard off. I don’t know really why this is, maybe just seeing some pictures without it or maybe I just have tired of how scruffy it looks. I see people with some great beards and I guess I thought by this point it would have filled out better. Don’t get me wrong it is better than I would have guessed when I started and sometimes doesn't look half bad. However, now I just wish it looked better that is all. Anyway, I will not be cutting it in the near future; it wouldn’t be until spring that I would consider doing it. Well, below are the pictures since my last Beard Blog over two weeks ago.
