Welcome To The Pack Jack!

It seems that when I talk about dogs, it seems it's always bad. Well, that has changed as a new member of the Wolfpack is here at St. Clair and his name is Jack.
He is a four-year-old Springer Spaniel mix. He's smaller than the Bax or Lester, so he's a junior member of the Wolfpack. He was at an English Springer Spaniel rescue in Florida because he was saved from being euthanized. Because he was a Springer mix his chance of being adopted was good...well until Terry showed my Dad Jack's profile, and they were on the way to the Sunshine State to get him. Jack loves his toys, taking walks, and barking. He is just a super cute dog. So, welcome to the Pack Jack!

Hiking Machine, Trail Work Leader, Campground Enforcer...All Down The Rabbit Hole!

Finally! The Hiking Machine got to do the two things I love most...Hiking and camping! On Tuesday, we camped at Horse Creek Campground. While I would rather be out backpacking into the bush, I had to rendezvous with the Forest Service because I led a team to fix the privy at Pete's (Jerry Cabin) Shelter. But first, I got to camp at an excellent campground.

After a beautiful night in my rocking tent, I woke up with the Lummox passing himself. Some bald jabroni with no shirt came wandering in. While the Lummox coward was in his tent, I gave the guy a drink of water and then gave him the Hiking Machine stare, and he said thank and vamoosed!

The next day, I rode up to the AT (Appalachian Trail) with Taylor from the Forest Service, and yes, we brought the Lummox...he's about as useful as a football bat. I got that board on the privy fixed and battled a Black Widow Spider to boot...now can I get a HELL YEAH! Well, with that, you know where this is going, I'm out...BITCHES!

Wildflowers & Bees Of July 2023

The month of July means the arrival of High Summer, but also when wildflowers start their slow decline. Even though there is fewer wildflowers in July, there was still plenty. One special place I got to visit is the North Carolina Arboretum in Asheville. I was there for the Carolina Mountain Club 100-Year Anniversary Celebration, allowing me to see a large assortment of flowers. Some might not be wild, but going there was special. Anyway, this blog is not about talking it's about pictures so enjoy there's from High Summer...
