It has been a few days since I blogged, but a Day Blog on the first hike of WinterOutdoors '17-18 seemed appropriate. The hike was an off-trail outing, with the Harvey Broome Group of the Sierra Club, in Cades Cove. We started out on a 5.7-mile excursion from the Dan Lawson Place, which took us through rhododendron to some old homesites. A more extensive blog will happen in the future, but first I am going to do a series of blogs on hikes from the 2017 Fall Outdoor Series (plus a season review blog).
