At The Roans & Down The Rabbit Hole...

Surprise BITCHES! Pete, here I am taking over these Quick Blogs from the Lummox because they are as dull as a rock. I am calling these Speed Blogs...so it is time to Go Down the Rabbit Hole!

The Lummox wanted to do an easy trail, but not me I wanted snow. So, I carried him from Carvers Gap to Grassy Ridge Bald and back. While doing this I had to cut a trail, sometimes waist-deep If I had a carrot for every time he wined I could start a restaurant. Well, that is all from the Roan Highlands, Pete out bitches!

At Upper & Lower Dick's Creek Falls

Today I went out with the Mid-Appalachian Hiking Club to Upper & Lower Dick's Creek Gap. It was a cold and snowy day.

We first got the lower falls and then cut a trail to the four cascades of the upper. I then finish the day at Go Burrito...

On The Tusculum Trail...

This is a Quick Blog after just getting off the back half of the Tusculum Trail.
I decided to do something different from the Tacoma Nature Trail and since I had been on the Tusculum Trail in some time, why not. Since my last trip, they have added more benches.

As always there are great views of the Bald Mountains.

At Bear Knob (Formally Big Knob)...

The Quick Blog comes from the steep climb on top of Bear Knob. I use to call this Big Knob, but since it is above Bear Hollow that is the reason for the name change. It was warm on the way up, but it is cool and real windy on top. That all from Bear Knob...

At Tacoma Nature Trail...

I had appointments in Greeneville today and with some time in between and since it was close by I went back to the Tacoma Creation Health Nature Trail.
On this day I did the loop part of the Lolly pop Anti-clockwise (I usually go the other way). It was pretty sloppy and another sign had bitten the dust.

There were nice views of the Bald Mountains and overall just over a mile I got done with time to spare for my appointment.

AT Day Hiking Over Unaka Mountain

This is a very short blog on my 9.5-Mile day hike over Unaka Mountain on Wednesday. I will write a more extensive blog later, but I did this hike with the Old-Timers Club. It was a shuttle hike, we started at Iron Mountain Gap and hiked the Appalachian Trail up and over Unaka Mountain to our shuttle vehicles at Beauty Spot (yes I was back there). I also completed half a section. Overall it was an excellent day.

Day Three Of Tennessee Sierra Club Spring Meeting

Today was the final day of the Chapter Meeting. I started the morning early again as I made omelets for breakfast. The rest of the morning was the Ex-Com meeting.
Before I left Fall Creek Falls State Park I did another short hike on the Nature Center Loop where I got another look at Fall Creek Falls and views of the Three Falls of Cane Creek. More to come later...

Day Two Of Tennessee Sierra Club Spring Meeting

Day two on Saturday was a day of hiking. We hiked on the Paw Paw Trail but was cut short by storms. For the afternoon we hiked to the base of Fall Creek Falls, the signature cascade in the park.
Then we had dinner, silent auction and program on climate change. It was a good second day.

After I headed to the Group Lodge #1 to end the first day.

Easter You Need To Decided On A Day

It is Easter...well that is what the calendar says. Don’t get me wrong I have nothing against Easter. As a kid I loved to color and hunt eggs and get Easter Baskets with candy. I also remember some wonderful family Easter dinners. At one time Easter was a least third maybe even second on the holiday calendar. While I know it is still important to some, but for me it might not even be in the Top Five of my holiday list. I think on of the main reasons is they keep moving it around. This year it was in March, but just two years ago it was in mid-to-late April (420 to be exact).

Lamb roast from 2014.

So, I think they just need to find one day for Easter let’s say in early April. I know, I know all of the religious stuff, but that is just my opinion on how to make it more popular. Hey I am not the only one who thinks this. It is better than what Pete, my hiking rabbit, would do and get rid of it all together (he hates Easter). Anyway, Deb and I had a nice Easter dinner. Since Dad and Terry decided to stay in Virginia we scaled back the dinner. We had lamb steaks (mine with schezuan pepper rub) roasted potatoes with onion and carrots and green beans. Since I have been sick no wine, just grape juice. So I hope everybody had a nice Pagan Fertility Day.
