Six Outings Only One Up To Hiking Machine Standards Down The 🐰 Hole

Well, it is Pete the Hiking Machine here and I am back with another edition of the only reason to read this blog...Down the Rabbit Hole. Anyway, this post will cover six hikes over four days, but five were pansy hikes that were just right for the Big Lummox. The other, to Margarette Falls, only got Hiking Machine Certification because of the snow.

The first easy hike was at David Crockett Birthplace State Park. Hell, if this hadn't been on a trail it would have just constituted a walk, but the Lummox did like all of those old like buildings. While it was easy the two hikes I did at Cedars of Lebanon State Park were more half-star fare, but at least one was five-miles and the State Naturalist (& outdoor legend) Randy Hedgepath led it, which was cool. The best part of the second hike was that Mac Post was the leader on that one. I might do a Top 5 Hike Leaders and I know who wouldn't be on that list. Oh, I could have done a "hike" on that Friday, but I wasn't crawling around like a fool looking for fossils. I will leave that to silly people like the Lummox.

Then this weekend there were two easy hikes with The Clinch Coalition at Natural Tunnel State Park. I like this group of people, but this first hike was child's play to the Hiking Machine and there were also dogs...😠 The other hike was a little more challenging because the trail down to the Natural Tunnel is a little steep, but listening to the Lummox, coming back up, you think it was a Mount LeConte hike ...it was only around a mile, good grief! Oh, we also hiked up to Lover's Leap, I have to keep a close eye on the Lummox these days at places like that 😉. We ended the day at this place called the Wilderness Trail Blockhouse, I wasn't impressed.

The one hike up to Hiking Machine standards was the one on Friday to Margarette Falls. While not the hardest hike, just three miles, the snow made it a little tougher and it was cold...Hiking Machine cold. Oh, you know the Lummox was whining and crying about the cold. He even got out one of those pansy hand warmers. The snow was nice and so were the waterfalls. Well, that is it for Pete the Hiking Machine I am out..."bitches."
