Giving Some "Love" To The ATC Ridgerunners

It is April and we are well into Appalachian Trail (AT) Thru-Hiking Season. Usually, I do a blog about Leave No Trace (LNT), but this year I am going to change it up and give some props to the ATC Ridgerunners. The Appalachian Trail Consevcey (ATC), which I am a proud member, are charged with safeguarding the trail at all times, but especially during Thru-Hiking Season.

I met one of these dedicated ATC Ridgerunners at Icewater Springs Shelter back in the snows of March. Her name was Chole and she was checking shelter permits and hauling out trash back to Newfound Gap, which I volunteered to help with. But the day before she was "cutting trail" through knee-deep snow headed to Cosby Knob Shelter, where she spent a cold night.

These Trail Guardians are there to make the trail better and safer for Day, Section and Thru- Hikers alike. So, if you run to one on the trail thank them for the job they do and if you can help them out...it makes the AT a better place.
