Quick Thoughts On Autumn Snow

There is nothing like the first snow after a long hot summer and today I got to see some of the white stuff up on Camp Creek Bald and across the mountain ridge on Saturday. It wasn't just Viking Mountain showing snow-capped peaks, but also Unaka Mountain (bottom photo) in the distance had an even frosty profile. Now, this was the first snow I had seen, but it wasn't the first this year. No, that happened on the 4th of November, but it was here and gone pretty quick. So, this was the first I got to see and document and it was lovely! Oh, it wasn't just snow but also rime ice, which can be just as beautiful...
