Hike Georgia On The Bear Hair Trail & A Double Waterfall Bonus

You know the old saying that the third time is the charm. Well that was the case for my Hike Georgia group's outing on the Bear Hair Trail at Vogel State Park. We had to move this hike twice because of weather. Well, today two hardy souls, Lori and Anat, besides myself brave the brutal weather conditions (sunny skies, mid 60's no wind chill) and finally got this hike in. I don't know how we did it. Anyway the Bear Hair is a five-mile loop through the Blood Mountain Wilderness around Vogel Knob with a spur to its summit. Here is a great view of Lake Trahlyta and Blood Mountain. After returning to the visitors center we hiked the one-mile Lake Trahlyta trail. This beautiful mountain lake and offers one of the most photographed views of iconic Blood Mountain. We also did the spur to view the impressive 110-foot Lake Trahlyta Falls. While this finished the day for my Hike Georgia group I drove the two miles on a bumpy, gravel road to Helton Creek Falls. There is actually two halves, Lower Helton Creek Falls is a 30-foot slider. Then there is the larger upper falls a tiered waterfall that comes in an impressive 60 feet. All-in-all it was a good day in the North Georgia Mountains.
