With the foggy damp weather and for other reasons I moved our scheduled hike in the mountains on the Bear Hair Trail at Vogel State Park to Sawnee Mountain Perserve. Sawnee is my goto backup and was again today. We did what I call the Russell Loop. It goes left from the visitor center up the steeper part of the Indian Seats Trail. Then you take the Yucca Trail and head up the steeper south side of Little Sawnee Mountain. From the Indian Seats go right back to the Yucca and then go right on the Indian Seats Trail. Then take the Eaglet Trail connect back to the Indian Seats Trail and to the visitor center to complete the loop. Total of 4.2 miles a nice quick day out. Oh, at the Indian Seats the lack of a view confirmed that I made a good decision to move the hike as the North Georgia Mountains were banked in by clouds. Mount Oglethorpe wasn't even visible today.
