It Wouldn't Be Thanksgiving Weekend Without Pizza, Hockey & Weiner Dogs

It is the Friday after Thanksgiving and that means a trip to Knoxville for the annual Ice Bears hockey game. This tradition started in 1999 when hockey returned to KnoxVegas (in the form of the Speed) and for most of the 16 years since that first game we have celebrated Thanksgiving Week here. This year it was just Marty and I and we started the evening at the place we always eat before the game at Stefano's Chicago Style Pizza on the strip (Cumberland Avenue near UT campus). We had the mighty meats pizza before heading to Le Colisse for the game. This year it was against the Mississippi RiverKings. They use to be in Memphis but moved just down the road to Southaven, which is in Mississippi. In the first intermission was another tradition, the annual Wiener Dog Races. They have had these races off and on for years, but since 2009 it has become a tradition on the Friday after Thanksgiving. The Wiener Dogs race from one goal line to the other. Anyway, at the end of the night it wasn't a good night for the Bears as they lost 4-2. However, it was a fun night at the "Good Old Hockey Game."
