AT Southern Terminus' From....

The Southern Terminus of the Appalachian Trail (AT) and the Benton MacKaye Trail (BMT) are both located on Springer Mountain in the Chattahoochee National Forest. While it has always served as the beginning of the BMT some might not know it wasn't the original starting point for the AT which it didn't become until 1959. No the honor of the original starting line of the AT went to Mount Olgelethrope. This mountain, which also had a large monument on its summit (and now resides in Jasper) is located 12.5 from Springer Mountain with Amicalola Falls State Park (AFSP) falling in-between.
