In this trying year Dad, Bax, Pete, and I made our last trip of 2020. The reason Joe and his crew started working on the second barn. As I talked about back in early November the barn that is on the other side of our land needed a little work, so Dad hired Joe to fix the foundation, replace some rotten boards and put the new tin on the roof.
So, when we got over on Tuesday we headed over to the other barn on that rough road past Franklin's place. We had to leave Bax at the Cabin, so when we got back I promised to take him on a hike and we went up to Wood Booger Ridge Loop. Bax had a good time.
Anyway, Wednesday morning it was back to the barn. I decided to hike around an area I hadn't been to before. Oh, and there was still snow in this spot which made it the last Snow Adventure of 2020.
As Pete mentioned one of the things I wanted to do while over there was test the walkie-talkies Dad got for Christmas (something we have needed here for a while). These Midland walkie talkies are supposed to have a range of 36 miles, but that is unobstructed. So, after lunch, I headed up to Buckner Ridge to test these walkies out while Dad was at the barn. Guess what...they passed with flying colors. Also, I found a new way back down to the barn, by following the west fence line.
Once back at the Cabin I had another promise to keep to take Bax out...again. We did the same loop as yesterday, except the opposite way. It also gave me the opportunity to again test the Walkie Talkies. It was a longer distance, more obstructed, and a better test since Dad was at the Cabin. Once again they passed with no problems. Well, that is all from the Cabin and 2020...good riddance to the year that was!
