Three Days On The Roans & A Crashed Drone...Just Two Sweet!

Well, since the Lummox isn't going to get to this I guess I must. Early this week I dragged the Lummox off the couch and to the Roans for two nights (three days) on the balds...HELL YEAH! On Monday we first went up to the Roan (Rhododendron) Gardens. We hiked the AT (Appalachian Trail) to the Roan High Shelter and my trip was made here as the Lummox crashed his drone. I was hoping it was out of action, but he got it working, but it was still funny! 

We stayed the night at Jane Bald and then moved on to one of my favorite places...Grassy Ridge Bald on Tuesday. I had to laugh again someone was at his campsite. But the guy Lynn was cool and said we could set up. His mutt was too bad either (better than that slobbering Bax). 

Then on Wednesday, I had to load the Lummox on my back and carry him back to Carvers Gap as he whined all the way. I could have stayed longer, but the Lummox wanted to go home on Monday, so it was back to hell...I mean cultivation. Well, that is all Peteoholics so there is just one more thing. I'm out...BITCHES!

A Hiking Machine's Happy High!

 

How do you make the Hiking Machine happy? Get him high in the mountains, which is what I got to do Monday and Tuesday with a trip to Mount Pisgah and the BPR (Blue Rudge Parkway). It seems these days I don't get to crush as many miles because of the Lummox, but I did get to camp at my new favorite place...Mount Pisgah Campground. While the posers stayed across the BPR at the Pisgah Inn, in my tent the way a Hiking Machine is meant to be! One of the best things that happened Monday was that damn drone of the Lummox stopped working! The camera was working or something (how should I know I'm just about crushing trail) so I thought of a drone-free trip. But somehow that idiot got it working...🤦‍♂️

Anyway, I did get some miles in Tuesday morning ripping it up to Fryingpan Mountain Fire Tower. I will cut the Lummox some slack for cutting the hike from 3.2 to 1.4 miles. A the Fryingpan Gap parking I hauled him up the 0.7 miles to the tower. I got a big laugh when he discovered that the catwalk was closed on the 70-foot tower. But, he would pull out that damn drone! Well, as another great bunny said..."that's all folks" and I'm out BITCHES!

Four Hikes In Five Days Softens my View Of The Lummox...Sort Of!

 Yes, I have a hate and loathe relationship with the Lummox. Then he will do something where he is almost alright and he did that with four hikes in five days. The first was that one to Pinnacle Mountain and then three hikes on our trip this weekend to the Cabin...HELL YEAH! Thursday we went looking for these stupid mushrooms. It was a win-win for me...I got to hike and the Lummox struck out, HAHA! Then Friday, I will forgive not going up my Knob because we did the SuperLoop. I didn't mind him playing with that stupid drone. I didn't know it was April Fools Day as it's always that with the Lummox! Then this morning the Lummox wanted to go up to take pictures of the sunrise, but I got to go out before dark with temperatures in the 20s...NICE! Well, Peteaholics the Hiking Machine is out...BITCHES!

Pete Has Finally Returned To His Falls!

Just like the title says the Hiking Machine finally made it back to my cascade,,, Pete's Branch Falls! While it isn't the hardest hike it is to a waterfall named after me...daddy! I am not going to bust the Lummox's Balls since we did go today and it was a Festivus Miracle! Well, it's that time, I am out, and Happy Festivus!

Old AT Is Hiking Machine Approved!

I know all of you Peteoholics are jonesing for your fix well, I was too. However, mine is getting out on the trail! What better place to get back out than the AT (Appalachian Trail). But not just the regular AT, but part of the abandoned trail above Watauga Lake. I will let the Lummox tell you all the brainy sh*t  but I will just tell you the old AT is the way it still should be... straight up and down, just the way the Hiking Machine loves!

 

Oh, since it is an old trail there are some off-trail style spots, hell yeah. The only problem was on the way back the Lummox got turned around and I had to show him the way. Anyway, it was a great day, and that was carrying the Lummox. Well, with that said I am out...BITCHES!

The Hiking Machine Has His Own Tent...TOO SWEET!

HELL YEAH! Yes, this is the Hiking Machine here and today I finally got my very own tent! I have wanted one for a long, long time. 

This I can get some sleep on the trail and it also means I don't have to share a tent with the nasty ass Lummox, it's just TOO SWEET! I can't wait to get this tent out on the trail for an overnight...I am out BITCHES!

I Love The Roans, But I Love Black Clouds With Silver Linings Too!

Hello, Petealcoholics the Hiking Machine here and I just got back from shredding trail on the Roans! It just wasn't hiking but camping too. that meant I had an added 30 pounds on my back, but it was no problem because I was heading to Big Roan Ridge on the other side of Grassy Ridge Bald. Because all of those pansies out there were afraid of the rain we got the Balds mostly to ourselves. I have to admit the Lummox got this choice of a campsite right, but a broken clock is even right twice a day. As great as the hike and camping were the look on the Lummox's face when that big black cloud rolled in block his sunrise...nice!. Well, I am going to end on a happy note, so I am out...BITCHES!

Not Left Behind This Time!

I know my loyal followers have been longing for something from the Hiking Machine...DADDY! Well, on this weekend I didn't get left behind hiking in Virginia. Last weekend I was left behind by the Lummox...what a asshole! I made sure I was on the bag and ready to go this time. I didn't even car that the Lummox was accompanied by two slobbering dogs. Well, Bax needs water so I am out...BITCHES!

Mission Max Patch...Accomplished!

Hiking and camping at Max Patch. The mission two days on "the Patch" the agent for this task, the Hiking Machine...DADDY! Guess what you "melvins" none of you were there...😄 Anyway, here is a rundown day one: shred the trail, carry the Lummox and camp...day two: rinse and repeat. While I tried to stay away from the mouthbreathing rabble on the summit of "the Patch" I did meet some cool section hikers at our campsite last night. While they weren't too impressed with the Lummox, they stood in awe of the Hiking Machine. Oh, you might be wondering why the Hiking Machine did grace this blog on either Saturday or Sunday. Well, this Hiking machine likes to be "off the grid" and let's be honest I am slumming it by even posting here, so your welcome! So, with that, I am out...BITCHES!

The Lummox Didn't Melt In The Rain At Buffalo Mountain Park

My boycott was only for blogging at the Cabin, but I have a quick opinion about our short day on the trail...the Lummox plus rain equals WUSS!

When I saw it was raining this morning, I will admit there was no chance I would get on the trail. The Lummox is like that Witch from the Wizard of Oz because with a little water he says "I'm melting!" It seemed he would be predictable as ever and then he surprised me...we went to Buffalo Mountain Park.

It was drizzlely and cold, which I didn't mind, but he was desperate to see some Mountain Laurel as this is the Lummox's annual hike at the park. At first, he didn't whine too much, but then his pants got a little wet. You would think he would be use to that...😄 So, this hike was shorter than most and was nothing for a Hiking Machine, DADDY! The Lummox saw flowers and I did get out, briefly, like the end of this blog...BITCHES!

It Might Be Just One Blog But It's Hiking Machine Knowledge

Hello, all you lovers of everything Hiking Machine, Pete here. This should be my second blog about our overnight to Rich Mountain but it is only this one thanks to guess who...the Lummox! He said because of lack of good signal and needing battery life to take some crappy sunrise photos, can you believe that! If he didn't have such a crappy mobile I would have spread my knowledge to my adoring public. Instead, I got to interact with my people, AT Thru-hikers. Whether it was up in the Rich Mountain Fire Tower or around the fire pit they soaked up the legends of the Hiking Machine! I was like the tribal AT Shaman...HELL YEAH DADDY!

You can't beat hiking the AT, camping, and thru-hikers, but one thing I could do without is carrying the dead weight of the Lummox. Well, it is that time, so I am out...BITCHES!

The Way To Spend Hump (Hiking) Day Is On The Trail At Bays Mountain

Some call it Hump Day, but I like Hike Day better and that is what today was at Bays Mountain...hell yeah DADDY! It was a day that featured a bunch of new trails and an old favorite the Bays Mountain Fire Tower. Oh, there was a trip across the dam which is always good. Oh, the Lummox was happy because he found some flower...a pink something. He is such a simpleton. Well, that is all and we know what that means, I am out...BITCHES!

Laurel Run Park Can Please A Hiking Machine

Oh yeah, daddy, it was time to get back on the trail. While a hike at Laurel Run Park is usually nothing for a Hiking Machine, but today we just didn't hike to the waterfalls. We left the park and into another one...Bays Mountain. I thought the Lummox would wuss out, but he nutted up for once and continued on the Liner Hollow Trail and came back on Pretty Ridge. We did about 7.5 miles...NICE! Well, that all folks and I am out...BITCHES!

What Beats The Cabin... Camping!

Hell yeah, daddy! I am out camping and not right outside the Cabin like a wuss. No, we are in the woods and it is TOO SWEET! Oh, and the Lummox stayed warm overnight, something about a new sleeping bag. I don't need such luxuries it's "Cowboy Camping" for me. So, with that said I am out... BITCHES!

Hiking With The Kaiser Is Better Than Not Hiking At All...

Hell yeah, Pete, the Hiking Machine, coming to you from the trail on Wood Booger Ridge. I really wanted to be on my Knob sending this out to all of the jabronis out there, but the Lummox had to bigger that big white tank...Kaiser Bax along. However, after rain all day yesterday (I would have gone out but the pansy wouldn't) so beggers can't be choosers on this glorious Tuesday. So with that, I am out...BITCHES!
