Sort Of Hike Georgia On The Laurel Ridge Trail

Once again because of the yo-yo weather getting a hike in Thursday was iffy at best. So one of our group regulars Lori wanted to hike before she headed to Mexico. So she suggested, last night, a hike at Buford Dam on the Laurel Ridge Trail this morning. Since Kelly, who is also a old regular, lives close by also decided to join us. I also texted John and Mikki aboit the hike and while John couldn't make it Mikki could. Funny story, I forgot to send Mikki the time and gave her bad directions to boot...sorry Mikki. It was a nice day for a hike but it started out rather cool. Anyway, we did 4.2 miles while the foliage had leafed out there wasn't a whole lot of wildflowers, nothing like Sawnee Mountain for example. There were the White Azaleas at the Lower Overlook, then some Blackberry blooms and Yellow Wood Sorrells, but not much else. However, surprisingly near the end we ran into a small bush of Mountain Laurel. I never seen it at this low of an altitude, under 1000 feet. It was a nice surprise, since it is a personal favorites. Well, that is about it for our sort of Hike Georgia outing.
