Well, it is Halloween and this year I decided last minute to keep it low key. As documented here I spent the first part of the day hiking with Glen, Donna and Charlie. I then spent some time with Deb's family before heading back to St. Clair. I then planned to just build a fire and drink some barley pops. About the time I was going to build my fire it started to rain. But thankfully it stopped and I proceed with my new Halloween tradition, sitting by the fire with adult beverages. Tonight I had a new pumpkin beer. the BA Punk'in Drublic by Coronado Brewing Company. I was recomended this one by Erika at Harrika's Beer House. Let me say I need to revise my Top 5 Pumpking Beers from last September as this one might slide in at Number 2. After having this I had a Southern Tier Warlock and Pumking...nice! As I was about to come in it started to rain, but it was right on time. Anyway, that is all for Halloween 2015, I hope everyone had a happy one.

Halloween Hiking The Hollow To Margarette Falls
It is Halloween and what better way to spend part of the day than hiking up to Margarette Falls in Greene County. Last year on the day before Halloween I hiked to Anna Ruby Falls in Georgia and I said why not another Halloween waterfall outing. This waterfall is located in the Cherokee National Forest at the base of Camp Creek Bald near Greeneville. The hollow leading to the falls can be seen from Big Firescald Knob, Blackstack Cliffs or Jones Meadow. I have been here before, hiking up to the falls back in July of 2013. Today I went out with Glen and his dog Charlie, but also joining us was Glen's wife Donna. The wind was howling down the hollow, which was appropriate for Halloween. The trail up is what I would call a moderate hike. The first third is a wide, former road bed before coming to an information board. This was once the parking area, now the trail splits with the one to the right going to the falls. The trail to the footbridge is not that bad, but past this point, it is pretty rocky to the falls. While I liked my summer hike here two years ago, today the fall colors made the hike even better. Charlie liked the waterholes better than the leaves. I think I might have seen a ghost out of the corner of my eye. Anyway, this hike was a great start to Halloween.
