Day 2: Even With Cloudy Skies The Beach Was Nice

It was our first full day here on Emerald Isle and we didn't get flooded. When we woke up this morning we were greeted by cloudy skies, but the rain had passed. So, Deb and I decided to take a hike up the beach. We first went east up the beach and walked about three quarters of a mile before heading back. From where we started we then headed west and walked about eight-tenths of a mile. Overall we hiked just over three miles. With the cloudy skies and a stiff breeze it was also cool (which was nice). Because of Hurricane Joaquin the beach was littered with seashells and coral. After our walk we went to eat breakfast at Yana's Resturant in Swansboro. While I will write more about this place later it is an old drugstore which features a lot of memorabilia, mostly centering on Elvis Presley and Marylin Monroe. Oh, and they have great apple fritters. We walked around the old colonial port town where Deb had here picture taken with a pirate and we met a old cat named Morris (yes, that is his name). When we made it to the condo, Deb and I went out to watch the people fishing, including Terry's brother, Shaun, and her sister-in-law, Susan. The pink fishing rod of Susan's was hauling them in. Just before we headed for dinner the sun came out, which was nice. We then went to dinner at Rucker Johns. After dinner I finished the night with the THL Fantasy Hockey Draft.
