Rivers, Lakes and Wildflowers Just Another Hike Georgia Outing

Wednesday, our Hike Georgia group had an outing at BufordDam mostly at the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area (CRNRA) Bowmans Island Unit, which I talked about here. This was my second hike there as we did another Hike Georgia back in January (here is the link). So, since I have been over this in more details in the past this is a photo blog from our outing this week.

Tree looks like autumn.

The group heads out.

New stairs.

Across the footbridge...

...& the Chattahoochee River...

...to the Bowmans Island Trailhead.

Lot different than January.

Group on the trail.

No horns today.

Looking like summer.

From this rock the river goes from this...

...to this.

Almost like a rhododendron tunnel.

Footbridge leads the way...

...out of the island...

...to a neighborhood...

...but remember dirty hiker stay on the trail.

Back to the CRNRA.

Venus Looking Glass.

Leaving Bowmans Island...

...headed back toward...

...the dam.

White-Eyed Grass.

Chattahoochee vista.

Buford Dam.

Piedmont Rhododendron.

Trail headed past some big bushes...

...of Mountain Laurel...

...some had seen better days.

The Granite Core in late spring.

Still on the trail.

Squirrel.

The official hike ended, but I want to do a little more.

Got to see a family of geese....

...adults with some growing geese.

The vista with the swing...

...where I hiked too.

On the way back...

...on the Laurel Ridge Trail.

Some pink Mountain Laurel...

...& Piedmont Rhododendron.

Panorama of Buford Dam at Lake Lanier.
